We Don't Want "No Stalker"

New Macka Diamond single called "No Stalker". Not sure who produced this one and its not on a popular riddim thats out but its a great song. Highly entertaining and a great rhyme scheme to go with a very real but still funny subject matter, stalker ass boyfriends. Remember ladies if he run you down at any turn that's not love, that's crazy!! get it.

CROSS!!!!

PEEEEEOPLE DEAD!!! Bounty Killer at them again. Apparently Bounty was not done with Vybz Kartel and still has a bone to pick with Beenie Man. On the well produced "Gaza Fag N Drag" the Warlord airs out his grievances with the Gaza crew in vintage Bounty Killer fashion. I'm going to go ahead and say the last diss track that Rodney Price has delivered that made me feel this way is "Likkle Dread Boy" earlier in the decade (Engine Riddim). This track is HAAAAARD!! 2009 Bounty Killer just solidified his spot as one of the greatest again. He's not finished yet. get it.

Never Gonna Give Up

New tune from Singer Jah (Desperado Promotions) called "Never Gonna Give Up". VIBES! get it.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

G-Whizz Wants To "Give It To You All"

Singing sensation G-Whizz with a nice ballad over the Silent Sky Riddim. "Give It To You All" reminds me of a song I've heard before but I can't quote put my finger on it lol. Either way its a nice song. Full of vibes. get it.

Esco say "Gal Show Off"

Love this one by Esco on the new riddim call Bruck Foot (Enyard Productions) call "Gal Show Off". get it.

EVERYDAY GANJA!!

Nice Mix Monday

Came across this mix on the internetz. Artist by the name of Nature. I'm feeling his voice (a little bit reminiscent of Garnett Silk on some tracks) and the vibes are definitely there. So I pass the vibes on to you. Mixed by Mystical Force. get it.

Chan Dizzy Say "Nuh Sell Out"

Russian of Head Concussion Productions has a new artist by the name of Chan Dizzy. This is the first I've heard of him and I'm loving what I hear so far. Song produced by Russian and it's called "Nuh Sell Out (Life A Di Greatest Thing)". get it.

Demarco's Take On the Gaza/Gully Beef

This tune been out for a minute but I wasn't blogging when it initially dropped. I love this tune, straight hit for the year. Paranoid Riddim (Produced by Mr. G), "Fat Pussy Gal Dem", get it.

Vybz Kartel Gives Dem Gunshot

The best Kartel i've heard since January, no lies!! He's still singjaying but he brings out his deejay voice for the hook and this one is bad imo. Even his in-house producer Not Nice comes with it this time. Riddim call Boxing Day, guess they getting ready for Sting (which is affectionately referred to as Boxing Day by dancehall fans for those that don't know). ANYHOW this one is a banger, its called "Get Gunshot". get it.

I've Been BUSY!!

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. I been busy with life and what not. Speaking of busy check out this new Busy Signal video highlighting his hits for the year 2009. Great compilation and mix of tracks and dope video. check it:

Terry Linen's Misadventures @ The 'Holiday Inn'

This song made me laugh 'cause he's singing mad smoothly about cheating on his girl but nevertheless I like the song lol. Terry Linen on the Holiday Inn riddim (Joe Fraser Records) with a song by the same name. get it.

Beenie Man is a Giant

Beenie Man with a new dancehall anthem called "Giants" over a Ravers Production riddim of the same name. When done right the 'techno' ish movement really works. I'm feeling this riddim. Be on the look out for a mix. get it.

Konshens on the same riddim with "Dem Wan See We Dead". BOOM TUNE!! get it.

Thursday, October 8, 2009

Sizzla "Don't Give A..."

Boom tune by Sizzla on the Stronga Riddim (JamStrong Records) called "Don't Give A...". Sizzla's been killing it this year. Big up everytime. get it.

'What A Night' For Beres & Queen Ifrica

Di one ya full up a vibes! A beautiful Beres Hammond and Queen Ifrica duet called "What A Night" courtesy of Penthouse Records. get it.

Splinta Riddim

2 new tunes on the Splinta Riddim brought to us by Boardhouse Records. Another Gal anthem from Agent Sasco (he's on a mission!!) and a more serious tune from Zumjay. Zumjay who is an actual soldier in the U.S. army serving in Iraq speaks on the causes he is ready to defend. Two solid tracks on a great riddim. Wish I liked more of the songs on the riddim. Maybe more artists will voice it as time goes on. Anyway without further ado...

get Assassin's 'Gal Dem We Say'
.
get Zumjay's 'Ready Fi Defend It'.

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Agent Sasco Say A Di Gyal Dem Time Now...

New Assassin on the European Swing Riddim (Riley & Birch Production). Obviously techno inspired but Assassin handles it properly in a dancehall style. This song right here is full of nothing but the pure unadulterated TRUTH from Agent Sasco himself. A sickness has come over the dancehall scene where men are wearing tight pants and competing with women for the video light! Some sounds rather play songs so the men can dance
before they play something for the girls to whine to!! BUT WHA DISS?! "Hey Mr Skinny Jeans", Assasin addresses you on this track "The Gal Dem Time Now".

get it.

Monday, October 5, 2009

NICE MIX MONDAY

New mix from Mad Kirby of Wadra Sound and Get-Mad-Now Blog

Saturday, October 3, 2009

Boom tune combination featuring Aidonia & Tarrus Riley over the Russian Head Concussion Produced Go Go Club Riddim called "D Trees". get it.

Pull It Up Selecta!!

New Demarco track on the BYM Entertainment produced Waga Waga Riddim called "Pull It Up Selecta". Di one ya full of vibes. get it.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

New tune from Spice ft. another female deejay by the name of Pamputtae called "Slim vs Fluffy". This is a greatly entertaining song where the two ladies go back and forth on who is better, Slim girls or Fluffy (more voluptuous lol) girls. Spice reps for the
slim girls and Pamputtae for the big girls. They both make some convincing arguments but naturally since I'm a slimmas myself I'm rooting for Spice on this one lol! A College Boiz Production. get it.

Munga Again.. YES YES!! (Video)

Munga new video for "Mi Waan Money/Can't Shawt Nuttin". Nice quality video for a nice song from Munga. Check it:

NICE MIX MONDAY FT. ME!

Myself, SHA-MECCA OF ROYAL LEGACY (WWW.ROYALLEGACY.ORG), have put together a mix of me singing congolese songs and melodies over reggae riddims. Experimental to say the least but I think it works. Leave comments and let me know how you feel about it! BLESS!

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Munga A Wuk Fi Him Own

New on DJ Frass's Survivor Riddim (featured earlier this month in a mix i made: check it.) called "My Own"

Munga and auto-tune go hand in hand so I don't complain (as much) when it's him as i'm not used to hearing him w/out it. When he builds a great tune it's a great tune. I haven't seen him live, I can only hope it all translates well to stage 'cause like
Deva Bratt say "Autotune cyan carry a stage show"...

Anyway, get it.

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Peetah Morgan says "Be Mindful"

New Peetah Morgan of Morgan Heritage with a new chune on the Sunshine Riddim (Supahype Production) called "Be Mindful"

get it
.

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

HOWDY!!

Merciless, one of Bounty Killer's biggest rival's, is back on the scene with a couple new tunes, "Di Letter" & "Country Mi Seh". "Di Letter" is Merciless speaking from prison where he spent 9 months for a gun charge, while "Country Mi Seh" has him commenting on the whole Gaza/Gully war and declaring that he represents for the country side. Both strong tracks from an artist I will admit I ignored in the past. As one can probably tell, Bounty Killer is one of my favorite dancehall artists if not my favorite, so when I heard Merciless I immediately wrote him off as a Bounty Killer clone but listening to his music he does have his own style about him. These two songs pretty much openned me up to liking his shit. I'mma be checking for him from now on.

get 'country mi seh'
get 'di letter'

Nah Go Round MI!

Not much to say. This one is mad. Busy Signal with another boom gyal tune, "Nuh Go Round Mi" (Kirkle Dove & Jukeboxx Production). get it. **NEW LINK

Lady Saw's 'Secret'

New single from the Queen of Dancehall herself, Lady Saw. Coming off a great year with the release of her Summer Bounce riddim.

In an interview with Goldfinger after this years Sumfest Lady Saw revealed that she would be putting out some new music with a different more smoothed out lovers vibe. If her new project stays along the lines of "Secret Lover" then it is sure to be another great release from Lady Saw. This one is full of vibes. get it.

Saturday, September 12, 2009

AMEN!

Finally some Portmore Empire Gaza shit I can deal with and feel from someone other than Vybz Kartel. Gaza Kim steps to the front with "Amen" which is a counteraction to Vybz Kartel's "Nah Let Go (Galis Anthem)" (which I didn't like at all hence why it hasn't been posted up lol). You can tell Vybz loaned her his style but truth be told it suits her much more than it suits him. I'm actually hoping he lets that flow go for good and let Gaza Kim keep it. Anyway, the autotune is used but not abused so it can gwan. get it.

AFRICAN SOUND - SURVIVOR RIDDIM MIX

Occasionally I make dancehall mixes under the name African Sound just for the heck of it. Today I made a mix for the Survivor Riddim. The same riddim that Mavado voiced the track "Fall Rain Fall" to. For some reason all the tracks are properly mixed except for his but hey that's life. The riddim, which is a DJ Frass production is tuff and the songs featured are as well. get it.

Busy Signal Has A "Black Belt'

But this is no karate. Busy Signal shows his lyrical dexterity over a minimalist Jukeboxx production. Sounds like video game sounds and some bass stabs but it WORKS especially with Busy ripping it. He spends the last 2 minutes of the song talking about poverty, crime, music and peace. Song call "Black Belt". Mad. get it.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Aidonia say Turn To "Isaiah" verse 35

This guy is on a streak. I love how he slowed his flow down but still keeps his lyrics really intricate. Aidonia addresses his haters on this Equiknoxx produced tune call "Isaiah". It MAD I'm telling you. get it.

Elephant Man, Shaggy, Red Rat & Bounty Killer @ BB Kings (Massive B)

More Labor Day Weekend fun. This clip is LIVE!! Elephant Man, Shaggy, Red Rat & Bounty Killer go back and forth doing old tunes and mash up the place. If you see how the place erupt when Bounty Killer touch the stage you will see why I had to make a banner change. Bounty Killer is holding dancehall down right now. Not only is he grooming numerous current dancehall legends in the making he continues to show the world that he is most definitely a force to be wreckoned with on stage. Anyway, I'm done talking watch the clip!

Mavado With A Next Hit!

"Fall Rain Fall". Song never even get a proper mixdown yet but I can tell is a hit already. Lyrics and delivery CONNECK big time! Mavado get them.

Here he is with Abuya Sound last month performing the track roadside:

Can't wait to hear this song properly mixed down. I love it already. get it.

Monday, September 7, 2009

Kiprich calls for some "Changes"

On the Star 9 Riddim a nice likkle serious tune from Kiprich.get it.

15 Rounds of Boxing

I usually don't post whole riddims 'cause there are many sites featured on the internet who already do. I don't want to pretend to be first with any music, I just showcase what I'm feeling at the moment. Well today I happen to be feeling this whole riddim call Boxing (the comp is entitled 15 Rounds of Boxing) produced by Joe Gibbs. It was originally cut in 1980 by Cornell Campbell for the song "Boxing" and is being released now for the first time with some old never before released tunes and some new tunes on the riddim. I love every track on here and just had to share!! get it.

Mavado sings to his "Baby Girl"

New* Mavado on the Daseca produced R Six Riddim called "Baby Girl". I love the vibes on this one. And I love especially that he doesn't lean on the autotune feature and lets the imperfections of his voice carry this one. Big up. get it.

*well apparently this isn't new at all LOL but i'm just now hearing it. better late than never. I think the riddim was just released though.

More Bounty @ Best of Both Worlds '09

Better sound and it's almost his whole set. VIBES!!! Big up Reggaetopsite.com

PART I

PART II

Lutan Fyah is a "Real Rasta"

New from Lutan Fyah on the Stronga Riddim
call "Real Rasta". get it.

Bounty Killer @ Best of Both Worlds (Roseland Ballroom 09.05.09)

On Saturday night I had the pleasure of being in the Roseland Ballroom to witness Bounty Killer live for the first time in my life. Beenie Man also performed that night as the headliner and birthday boy. His performance left much to be desired for me. Wasn't as good as the the first time I saw him perform almost 10 years ago @ Howard University. The star of the night for me was definitely Bounty Killer. His half hour was chock full of hits. He kept the talking to a minimum but when he did speak it didn't fall on deaf ears (nor was his speech met by any boos to my pleasant surprise). The crowd listen captivated as he went in on his new archnemesis, his son in the business, Vybz Kartel and the trends he is spreading in Dancehall. From Kartel's tight pants to his bleaching and calling himself the devil, Bounty Killer warned the people to be careful which trends they follow. Then he went into Chattabox one of the 5 songs he's released in the last 3 weeks aimed at Kartel. Check the video:

The audio isn't that great but from the video you can see Bounty Killer's focus. I wish there was more of the show available online. After he got through dissing Kartel he let the people know that Dancehall is not without morals and anyone who styles themself as the Poor People's Governor must make social commentary and can't only make music about fun and partying. He spoke about books being taxed in Jamaica and that things of that nature are sending poor people into a deeper depression. He then went into a song using crowd participation call (i'm assuming lol) "What Dem Expect We Fi Do" and then into his hit "Book, Book, Book". All in all his set was
captivating and energetic. I will not be present @ Sting unfortunately but after seeing this performance I can't wait to see (via Youtube.com obviously lol) how Sting '09 shapes up. Will he walk out on Kartel? Will Hellboy run?? We'll see. Until then I will revel in my getting to see the Warlord live on stage for FREE! It was
quite the experience.

Wyclef Jean - Patwa Swagga

New mixtape from Wyclef Jean aka Toussaint St. Jean called "Patwa Swagga", just in time for the parkway. It's Wyclef over some choice dancehall riddims. Very enjoyable. get it.

PEOPLE DEAD!!!

Check this footage of Bounty Killer live August 31st @ Blitz Club in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, performing "Bullet Proof Skin" and his Kartel diss "Chattabox". When I say I don't think Vybz Kartel stands a chance lol man just watch the video.

Wyclef Jean's Tribute to Wycliffe "Steely" Johnson

Wyclef sends a tribute to one of Dancehall's finest fallen soldier Wycliffe "Steely" Johnson over the Steely & Clevie produced Taxi Riddim. Nice drop. He will be missed greatly. Blessed Love. get it.

Also check out this Walshy Fire podcast dedicated to Steely: get it.

Vybz Kartel - Duppy Killa

I'm only posting this 'cause I'm documenting this War between Bounty Killer & Kartel but this shit? Kartel's delivery is so fucking weak and corny. He's had two chances already. I've given up all hope that he'll reply with something worthy. Now I'm just waiting to see Boutny done him at Sting in December. You judge for yourself:

Sojah (Konshens & Delus) - She's Happy (Video)

New video and tune from Konshens and his partner and older brother, Delus (who make up the duo Sojah) called "She's Happy". I love this one despite the autotune (you will come to understand that I pretty much HATE autotune and wish some of my favorite artists would stop using it) Anyway, deep message. I know people in this situation. It's real. get it.

Thursday, September 3, 2009

Little Hero & Pzed - Cassava Riddim Medley (Video)

TWO BOOM TUNE!! wish i had the mp3 of this shit. I'm on a search right now. I just heard of these songs but apparently they been out since February of this year but the video is new. I'm glad to have come across this though. Good music has no expiration date!! enjoy the video.

EDIT: I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE MP3 OF THESE SONGS!!!
LITTLE HERO - CRY FI DI POOR (GET IT)
PZED - CASSAVA (GET IT)

Bounty Killer Best of 2009

That's the latest mixdown of Bounty Killer's last swipe @ Vybz Kartel called "Wata Tune" which was an answer to Kartel's counteraction "Toilet Paper (Bownty's Killer)". Everyone has been waiting for Vybz Kartel to come back with a diss but he went a step further and told a Jamaican publication that he wasn't going to clash Bounty on stage or on record, stating that Bounty Killer was old and washed up and didn't deserve his attention.
Jamaica's greatest dancehall battlefield is Sting which comes around December 26. There are much talks about who will take who.

Many say this is just as strategy by Kartel and it very well could be but I personally don't think he stands a chance against Bounty Killer in a clash any day but I'm still interested to see what he has up his sleeve. If he continues singing like he did on "Bownty's Killer" he lost already imo. Anyway since the start of the year it seems Bounty Killer has been attempting to show the dancehall world that not only does his Alliance (which includes Mavado, Serani, Elephant Man, Busy Signal, and among others) hold weight in the dancehall community but that he too holds much weight and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. To commemorate that and my going to see him and Beenie Man perform in NYC this weekend I am linking up this Best of Bounty Killer compilation that I got from Dancehallreggae.com (big up realpatriot) It's a collection of all of Bounty Killer's singles for the year. A solid comp of
tunes, including all of his Kartel Disses. get it.

R.I.P. Fadda Steely

Today we lost a legend in Jamaican music and music in general. Today we give thanks for the life of Wycliffe "Steely" Johnson who passed away from pneumonia this morning in NY. I don't have enough words to describe his impact on the music that I love so much especially since I am still learning so much from and about him. So instead of trying to come up with fancy words to eulogize the man I knew soley threw his music, I share with you this clip. This is an interview from 2005 with Red Bull Music Academy. For an hour and a half Steely and his partner Cleveland "Clevie" Browne explain their hands on impact on the development and nurturing of Dancehall music by answering series of questions. It is an extremely informative interview. His contributions will not be forgotten, peace.

Anthony B says be "Done Wit War"

New Anthony B single. One of my favorite artists, I had the pleasure of meeting him last year. Very humble and very talented. Love this song. get it.

More Jahdan Blakkamoore...BAZOOKA SHOT!

New mixtape by Bootcamp & Noble Society affiliate, Jahdan Blakkamoore. It's called Bazooka Shot. Truthfully I haven't even heard it yet but I'm posting it with confidence that it's dope. I'll give my two cents once i've heard it. get it.

edit: Didn't like the first few songs so I was worried but starting @ Turn The Other Way it picks up. I had no idea he was also a rapper. The Noble Society mixtape was strictly reggae. Nonetheless the music Jahdan offers is good for the most part. He sometimes tries too hard to cater to the mainstream but when he goes off on his own tangent he nails it. Enjoy.
